Growing Together: The Essential Role of Challenges in Parenting

When they make a mistake, resist the urge to step in and rescue them.

Nowadays, we tend to do too much for our children, often boosting our own self-esteem at the cost of theirs.

True character and self-esteem are developed through facing challenges. I still remember my first job working in a toy store when I was my son’s age—14 years old. I earned my first monthly salary of $50 and came home feeling proud that I was able to help my family.

Yet, I often find myself stepping in to solve even the smallest obstacles my kids face!

Our deep love for them makes it tempting to shield them from discomfort, but this can lead to unintentional mistakes. They need to gain confidence in their ability to tackle their own problems.

Parenting is a journey where both parents and children grow together, learning to embrace challenges and develop resilience. By allowing them to make mistakes and learn from them, we prepare them for the realities of life and help them reach their full potential.
